More about me than you ever wanted to know

I am a Christian, a wife, a mother, a classical homeschooler, and a writer.

Expect lots of posts about faith, books, yarn, and kids...but not necessarily in that order.

I am the wife of Thedore and the mother of Peter, Camellia, and Samuel.

The only name on this blog that is real is my own. I use nicknames for my husband and children to protect their privacy.

We homeschool using the classical model, a mesh of The Well-Trained Mind and Latin-Centered Curriculum (heavy on The Well-Trained Mind).

The curriculum I use is Tapestry of Grace.

I am a Christian. Not just an "I celebrate Christmas, Christian," or an "I believe in God, Christian," but a sold-out, church-attending, Bible-believing evangelical Christian. I am, to put it bluntly, one of "those" Christians that the rest of the world seems to be so frightened of.

But I'm really not that scary.

I have been married to Theodore for fourteen years.

I love to read. I used to get in trouble as a child for reading too much. I have now been known to tell my kids to stop reading and go do something else for a while. That's just further evidence that I'm turning into my mother.

Turning into my mother is actually a good thing in my case, though. I wish I could turn into the good housekeeper that my mother is. Hope springs eternal.

I have a serious book habit. My book buying is the main thing standing between Theodore and his eventual retirement. Proceeds from the blog help to support my habit. Here, let me make it easy for you:

I come from a family of four girls.

I am the baby of the family.

My three sisters just nodded and said, "And how," when they read that last statement.

Growing up and leaving home deprived me of my captive audience, so I started the blog because must put myself out there somehow.

If I didn't blog I would have to become a street mime.

And I think street mimes are annoying.

People who know me in real life think that I'm quiet and shy.

I first became and aunt when I was six.

When I was a teenager I thought it was quite fun to have my nieces and nephews call me Aunt Staci. Now that they're adults and have children of their own it freaks me out. But I'm getting used to it.

I haven't been caught up with the laundry for a single day in my adult life.

I love dogs, specifically dachshunds. If anyone denegrates dachshunds in my hearing I take it personally and get defensive.

My dream is to write the Great American Novel. I have tried and failed multiple times. I have since decided that dreaming about writing the Great American Novel is much easier than doing it.

I am, by profession, a pharmacist. Majoring in pharmacy was one of the few practical decisions I have ever made.

I think the world would be a better place if everyone had to work with the public for at least two years of their life. That's all I'm going to say about that.

I also like to knit, crochet, and sew. If I ever become good enough at knitting to read and knit at the same time I will be very happy. Since I can't walk and chew gum at the same time I'm not holding my breath.
